The demonstration in Barcelona
Following Cisco and Panduit's Engineering Alliance to accelerate intelligent, sustainable workplaces through Fault-Managed Power (FMP), a demonstration of the joint solution is now deployed at Cisco Innovation Labs in Barcelona, Spain.
The lab brings together Panduit and Cisco technologies: intelligent PDUs with consumption monitoring, a UPS for power continuity and centralized backup, a PanZone TrueEdge enclosure with a smart security handle and integrated card reader, Cisco Catalyst 9000 Series switches, Cisco IIoT, and Meraki PoE devices. Together, these systems demonstrate an efficient, secure, and scalable infrastructure for modern enterprises.
Panduit PanZone TrueEdge enclosure
The PanZone TrueEdge Vertical Wall-Mount Enclosure is a low-profile enclosure for edge computing environments, micro data centers, and telecommunications room extensions. It supports up to 36 inches (91.44 cm) of active equipment depth, including servers and PoE switches, in 3RU, 6RU, or 9RU configurations, with a static load capacity of up to 400 lb (181 kg).
Its powder-coated steel construction, top and bottom perforations, adjustable mounting rails, and removable covers support durability and thermal management. Optional filter kits meet NEMA 1 and IP20 ratings, and keyed locking adds physical security. The configurable design provides an alternative to traditional racks in space-constrained deployments.
Panduit Intelligent PDU
Panduit PDUs provide monitored power distribution for data centers and high-density IT environments. Real-time monitoring of power, current, temperature, and outlet status helps teams improve uptime, energy efficiency, and operational visibility. Flexible configurations, high outlet density, plug-and-play accessories, secure network connectivity, and a web interface support deployment, expansion, and remote power management.
Cisco Catalyst 9200 and 9300 switches
Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series switches provide stackable enterprise access and distribution for business-critical campus and branch environments where scale, security, resiliency, and programmability matter. Catalyst 9200 switches offer right-sized switching for simpler branch and compact deployments. Both are part of the Catalyst 9000 family.
Cisco Nexus Dashboard
Panduit Intelligent PDUs integrated with Cisco Nexus Dashboard provide a data-driven view of power and energy management. The combined solution brings real-time and historical consumption, energy-efficiency, and sustainability metrics across racks, PDUs, and outlets into one operational platform. Correlating PDU telemetry with network and infrastructure insights supports capacity planning and operational efficiency.
Panduit Smart Rack Handle
Panduit Intelligent Rack Security Handles combine physical access control with environmental monitoring. Features include multi-frequency RFID card readers, optional keypad-based dual authentication, humidity and temperature sensors, and Beacon and Status LEDs. Integration with Panduit iPDUs and DCIM platforms supports centralized monitoring and reporting of access events and environmental conditions.
Panduit Intelligent UPS
Panduit Uninterruptible Power Supplies provide power protection for data centers, enterprise networks, and edge IT. Their online double-conversion topology and pure sine-wave output help maintain stable power through outages, with automatic voltage regulation and surge protection. Additional features include convertible rack/tower installation, intelligent battery management, expandable battery packs, emergency power off, monitoring interfaces, programmable outlets, and smart load shedding.
About the Panduit and Cisco alliance
Panduit and Cisco are combining Panduit's Fault-Managed Power System (FMPS, Class 4) with Cisco Catalyst 9200 and 9300 PoE switching. The alliance describes this as a standardized end-to-end DC power distribution solution, delivering up to 600 W per copper pair over distances exceeding 2 km. A pulsed-current waveform detects and isolates faults in milliseconds. Receivers convert the pulses carried over Class 4 multi-strand cable (UL 14002) to ±48 V DC and ±56 V DC for Cisco switches, which can then provide PoE up to 90 W to devices such as lighting, sensors, cameras, and Wi-Fi access points.
